Nancy Jean Scott, age 85, formerly of Hugoton, Kansas, died, November 6, 2024, at Western Prairie Senior Living Community in Ulysses, Kansas. She was born on September 15, 1939, in Moscow, Kansas, the daughter of Vincent and Sarah Etta (Reynolds) Medcalf.

Nancy began school in Moscow and later attended the Hugoton Schools and graduated from Hugoton High School in 1957. She attended Emporia Teacher’s College where she earned her bachelor’s in teaching in 1961. She taught kindergarten for several years in Wichita before moving to Hugoton in 1975, and taught school there until 2001. She attended the Church of God and then later My Father’s House in Hugoton. Nancy loved watching her grandchildren’s activities and spending time with her friends and family.

Nancy is survived by her sons, Stuart Scott and wife, Susan, of Wichita, Kansas, and Steve Scott of Liberal, Kansas; sister, JoAnn Schnaufer of Lubbock, Texas; brother, Vincent Medcalf of Princeton, Indiana; and grandchildren, Austin Scott and wife, Allie, of Olathe, Kansas, Adam Scott of Wichita, Kansas, and Amy Walters and husband, Mitchell, of Shawnee, Kansas.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Sarah Etta (Reynolds) Medcalf.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Garnand Funeral Home in Hugoton, Kansas, with Pastor Eric Mason officiating. Interment will follow at the Hugoton Cemetery in Hugoton. Memorial contributions may be given to Sovereign Redeemer Church in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 920 E. 11th St. Hugoton, KS 67951.
