Nancy Jane Bowman

Nancy Jane Bowman, age 81, died July 19, 2021, at her home in Liberal, Kansas.

She was born on April 30, 1940, daughter of Henry Ray Bergdall and Maggie Swartz Bergdall in Winfield, Kansas. Nancy grew up in Winfield graduating high school from there in 1958 and finishing college from Southwestern College of Winfield in 1963 with a Home Economics degree and a minor in Education and Library Science. She married James Bowman in Liberal on August 30, 1970. They enjoyed traveling to all 50 states and cruising the world with over 35 cruises visiting every continent except Antarctica. For 22 years Nance was half owner of Bowman Auto Sales in downtown Liberal until retiring in 2003 due to a tornado. She belonged to many organizations including, Eta Beta Chapter ESA, PEO – Chapter FA, Red Hat, Senior Citizen Board, Senior Citizen Exercise and Coffee Group, the Hospital Auxiliary, and as
past member of the Library Board Member, Soroptimist, and Friday Night Dinner Club.

Survived by:
Her husband, James Bowman of Liberal, Kansas
Sister, Phyllis Sympson and
Niece, Jaci Matney, both of Lawrence, Kansas
Brother-in-law, Ron Bowman and partner, Stan Zukowfsky of Scottsdale, Arizona and San Diego, California
and many more nieces and nephews

Nancy was preceded in death by both her parents, Henry, and Maggie Bergdall
Her Brother, Bill Bergdall and
Sister, Sarah Jo Sympson.

No visitation is scheduled.

Memorial Service will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 26, 2021at the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ on 10th and N. Clay Liberal, Kansas Reverend Brad Bennett of the Methodist Church presiding.

Interment will follow later.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations suggested to First Christian Church Air Conditioner Fund in care of Hornung Family Funeral Home.
