Mosie Lee Portis

Mosie L. Portis, 84, of Liberal died Friday, August 23, 2013 at the Life Care Unit of Edwards County Hospital in Kinsley, KS.

She was born April 9, 1929 at Watson, AR, the daughter of Melvin and Delia ( Dean ) Paul.

She married Guy N. Portis on July 9, 1982 in Chicago, IL. He preceded her in death on July 13, 2008.

Mosie attended Bible Way Church of God In Christ. She was an assembler at the Zenith Electronics Corporation from 1948 – 1982 in Chicago, IL. Mosie and Guy moved to Liberal in 1982 and worked in the Central Supply Dept. at Southwest Medical Center until her retirement in 1991. Mosie enjoyed Ushering within the church and traveling.

She is survived by 4 Nephews – Tommy Johnson and wife Mary of Kansas City, KS; Robert Johnson and wife Earnestine of Arkadelphia, AR; Elroy Hollingsworth and wife Loretta of Chicago, IL; and Billy Jackson of Chicago, IL. 3 Nieces – Billie Jean Allen of Chicago, IL; Dorothy Gives of Chicago, IL; and Ruthie Mae Taylor of Chicago, IL. 1 Sister In Law: Edna Jones of Chicago, IL; and several Great Nieces and Nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, 1 Brother and 3 Sisters.

Visitation will be Friday August 30th from 12:00pm – 8:00pm at Miller Mortuary.

Funeral Service will be Saturday August 31st at 10:00am at the Miller Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Steven Bailem and Superintendent Lawrence Johnson officiating.
