Monica Ray Cox, age 46, of Plains, Kansas, passed away late Monday evening, January 30, 2023, at the Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas.
She was born December 12, 1976, at Guymon, Oklahoma, the daughter of Jimmy and Donna (Johnson) Ketcherside. Monica spent part of her childhood in Guymon, Oklahoma. At the age of eleven, she and her family moved to Kismet, Kansas, where she attended Kismet schools, graduating from Southwestern Heights High School in 1994. She later attended nurses training at Seward County Community College in Liberal. A longtime area resident, she owned and operated a daycare business for many years.
She enjoyed watching cooking shows and cooking, traveling, had a love for animals, including her special companion, Razzy Mae, and spending time with her family and three sons, Logan, Brayden, and Kyler.
She is survived by three sons, Logan, Brayden, and Kyler Cox, all of Plains, Kansas; her mother Donna Ketcherside and long time companion Mark Kneeland of Plains; a brother, Chad Esser of Park City, Kansas; Grandmother- Patricia Ann Johnson of Guymon; three uncles, Robbie Johnson and wife Kelly of Goodwell, Oklahoma, JB and Darlene Ketcherside of Guymon, Oklahoma, and Ronnie Ketcherside of Kiowa, Oklahoma; two aunts, Charlotte Cesarano and Nancy Johnson both of Guymon; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her stepfather, J.B. Esser; her father Jimmy Ray Ketcherside; a brother, Jimmy Ray (Jimbo) Ketcherside; maternal grandfather, Robert C. Johnson; paternal grandparents, Joe and Mary Ketcherside; an uncle Randy Johnson; and an aunt Mary Jo Ketcherside.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2023, at the Untied Methodist Church, Plains. In accordance to her request, cremation has taken place.
The family would welcome memorials to the National Hunting Society in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade, Kansas.
