Mitchell “Mitch” Glen Thompson, 55, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS. Born February 16, 1963, at Coldwater, KS, he was the son of Melvin Darrell and Mary Jean (Williams) Thompson.

A long-time resident of Liberal, KS, Mitch graduated from Southwestern Heights High School in Plains, KS in 1981 and received an Associates Degree from Seward County Community College in Liberal, KS. On March 23, 1985, he married Margaret Wilson at Liberal, KS. She survives.

Mitch worked for Seward County Community College Maintenance Department for 29 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Liberal, KS and was a Seward County Community College Booster. He was an active supporter of all Seward County Community College Athletics and That Liberal Band. He enjoyed fishing, Star Wars and John Wayne movies, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife: Margaret “Maggie” Thompson of Liberal, KS; two daughters: Tara Thompson of Liberal, KS and Melanie Baier (Ashton) of Liberal, KS; three grandchildren: Jeremey, Gracie, and Lane; two sisters: Floydene Little (Ray) of Tucson, AR and Peggy Stotler (Shorty) of Ashland, KS; three brothers: Jody Thompson (Anita) of Liberal, KS, Eldon “Duke” Thompson (Ken Hankins) of Wichita, KS, and David Thompson of Coldwater, KS; his mother-in-law: Virginia Wilson of Liberal, KS; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Melvin and Jean Thompson; one sister: Melvina Caldwell; and one nephew: Jeremey Caldwell.

Visitation with family present is from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, July 1, 2018, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.

Funeral service is at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 2, 2018, at First Christian Church, Coldwater, KS, with Pastor Keith Anglemyer presiding. Burial will follow the funeral service at Crown Hill Cemetery, Coldwater, KS.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Seward County Community College Foundation or American Cancer Society in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, P.O. Box 417, Coldwater, KS 67029.
