Mildred P. Calvin, age 99, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Friday, December 15, 2017, at Western Prairie Senior Living Community in Ulysses. She was born March 17, 1918, in Richfield, Kansas, the daughter of John L. and Viola J. (Hall) McGee.

Mildred attended school in Richfield. She worked as a housekeeper in The Dalles, Oregon, for two years, and then returned to Kansas. Mildred lived in Texas and Kansas after her marriage to Woodrow W. Calvin on February 26, 1941. Mildred was a bookkeeper for JM McDonald’s department store for 20 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary both of Ulysses.

She is survived by her daughters, Shirley K. Calvin of Garden City, Kansas, and Rita I. Moore and husband Gary of Edmond, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Mark A. Chaffee, Gregory K. Moore, Wendy S. Chaffee, Kelly W. Moore, Michell Yoder and Micheal Calvin; great-grandchildren, Stacey Chaffee, Chris Chaffee, Joshua Chosa, Katelyn Moore, Todd Ponder, Aaron Yoder, Jennifer Yoder, and David Yoder; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Mildred is preceded in death by her parents; siblings; husband, Woodrow; and son, Woodie A. Calvin.

Memorial service will be Saturday, March 17, 2018, on her 100th birthday, at 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses with Reverend Todd Guinn officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the First United Methodist Church or Western Prairie Senior Living Community in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
