Maxine (Whisennand) Robebeaux : UPDATE

Maxine (Whisennand) Robebeaux, age 74, of Levelland, Texas, died January 2, 2014 at Covenant Medical Center, Levelland, Texas. She was born January 7, 1939 in Ajo, Arizona the daughter of Earnest and Alice (Schnaufer) Whisennand.

Maxine grew up south of Elkhart on her family’s farm and graduated from Yarbrough High School. Throughout her life, she worked as a waitress, managed the Surrey Restaurant in Elkhart, Kansas and worked for the Elkhart Schools as a custodian and bus driver. Maxine moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma in 1989 where she lived until she moved to Levelland, Texas in 2013.

Maxine married Melvin Strothman in 1960, he preceded her in death. In February 1993, she married Charles Robebeaux, he also preceded her in death.

Survivors include three daughters; Joan Sanders of Levelland, Texas, Patricia Woodward of Glendale, Arizona and Andrea Robertson of Levelland, Texas, three brothers; Joe Whisennand, Jon Whisennand and Jack Whisennand all of Elkhart, Kansas, six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Maxine is also preceded in death by her parents, one sister; Phyllis Whisennand and one brother; Jim Whisennand.

Vigil Service will be held Monday, January 6, 2014, 7:00 PM at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Elkhart, Kansas. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Elkhart, Kansas with Father Frances Khoi Nguyen officiating. Burial will follow at the Elkhart Cemetery, Elkhart, Kansas. Friends may call from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Monday, January 6, 2014 at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart, Kansas. The family requests memorials may be given to the Morton County Historical Society Museum, Elkhart, Kansas in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.
