Maxine R. Wooldridge

Maxine R. Wooldridge, a lifetime servant, died Friday, August 26, 2022, at the age of 96, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses. She was born January 6, 1926, in Reno County, Kansas, the daughter of Levi Wesley and Sarah Ethel (Hartley) Jones.
Maxine grew up in Reno County near Kingman and graduated from Langdon High School. She married Edward E. Wooldridge on December 29, 1946. They lived in multiple locations because of Edward’s work with Amoco including Sublette before settling in Ulysses in 1968. Maxine taught in a one-room school, was a church secretary at the Methodist Church in Sublette, and was a Certified Medical Records Technician at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses. She was a member of PEO, Order of Eastern Star #471, First United Methodist Church, and United Methodist Women. Among her many interests, were quilting, playing bridge, sewing, making birthday cakes, making Christmas candy, and collecting Precious Moments figurines. Maxine was a loyal fan of the Kansas City Royals and listened to all their games on the radio. She enjoyed following and attending her families activities. For many years, Maxine visited the residents at the care home on a monthly basis. Maxine will be remembered as being a model of grace, peace and patience, and putting others before herself.
Maxine is survived by her sons, Brad Wooldridge and wife Sonja of Ulysses, and Philip Wooldridge and wife Gina of Richardson, Texas; five grandchildren, Kelli Bates and husband Justin, Kate Krug and husband Chad, Wes Wooldridge and wife Laine, Wylee Wooldridge and wife Charlotte, and Chloe Walsingham and husband Garrett; and ten great-grandchildren.
Maxine is preceded in death by her parents, Levi and Sara Jones; husband, Edward who passed away the following morning; and siblings, Leita Ewing, Jaunita Carmichael, Fleeta Jones, and Donald Jones.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 3, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Hoosier Cemetery in Kingman County with Ric Dalke officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. There will be a memorial service at a later date.
