Maurine Mae Evans 99, died Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Liberal Good

Samaritan Society in Liberal, KS

She was born March 13, 1913 in rural Liberal, the daughter of Luther

Franklin and Lola Pearl (Browning) Cox.

She graduated as the valedictorian of the class of 1931 of Turpin High

School.

She was a homemaker and helped her husband farm. She was a longtime

resident of the Turpin area moving to Liberal in 1989.

She was a past member of the Turpin United Methodist Church where she

taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School for many years. After

moving to Liberal she became a member of the First Baptist Church and

the McArthur Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Southwest

Medical Center Auxiliary. She was an avid seamstress and knitter.

On April 17, 1932 she married Rupert Evans in Turpin, OK. He died May

28, 1986.

Survivors include.

1 Son Jerry Evans and wife Donna Turpin, OK

2 Daughters LeVetra Brown and husband Ken Abilene, KS

Jean Smith and husband Gerald Humble, TX

8 Grandchildren Dr. Randy Brown, Dr. Gary Brown, Kelli Daniels, Tammi

Ward, Terri Jones, Todd Smith, Brad Evans and Brent Evans.

20 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great-Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by brother J.H. Cox and sister Mary Louise Jones.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, November 24, 2012 at

Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stan Lehnert presiding.

A private family burial will take place at Liberal Cemetery.

Visitation time will be 1 to 8 pm Friday at Brenneman Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers and plants memorial contributions may be sent to the

First Baptist Church or Liberal Good Samaritan Society in care of

Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd St. Liberal, KS 67901.
