Maudie Chaffin

Maudie Chaffin, age 87, of Johnson, Kansas, died Thursday, May 23, 2024, at the Stanton County Hospital in Johnson. She was born on June 28, 1936, in Slegman, Missouri, the daughter of Nels and Rozella (Carroll) Jensen.

Maudie grew up in Slegman, Missouri, and graduated from Slegman High School. She married Barry R. Chaffin on December 25, 1982, in Johnson, Kansas. Maudie worked at K&S Meats, was a dietician and CNA at Stanton County Hospital, Stanton County Long Term Care Unit in Johnson, and also at Western Prairie Care Home in Ulysses. She and Barry owned and operated Top Hat Tavern.

Maudie is survived by her children, Jerry Twilleger and wife, Sharon, of Garden City, Kansas, Randy Twilleger and wife, Sherri, of Cañon City, Colorado, John Twilleger of Paola, Kansas, Sherry Twilleger of Johnson, Kansas, and Mark Twilleger of Johnson, Kansas; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Maudie is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Barry Chaffin; sons, Dennis and Bill Twilleger; three brothers, Carroll Jensen, Harold Jensen, and Nels Jensen, Jr.; and one sister, Eva Butler.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, Kansas, with Pastor Bob LeVene officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 28, 2024, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson.
