Matthew Robert Harper, 26, of Holcomb, KS passed away on July 23, 2016 near Garden City, KS.

He was born on October 29, 1989 to Robert and Robin (Wharran) Harper in Austin, TX.

Matthew moved with his family to Augsburg, Germany when he was two years old and moved to Liberal, Kansas when he was five. He was a Liberal High School graduate, class of 2008. While at LHS he played the Euphonium and was a member of “That” Liberal Band, the KMEA Honor Band, and also a member of the Five-State Honor Band. After graduating he went to work at Dillons in Liberal. In May, 2015 he transferred to work at the Garden City Dillons store. He had a passion for all music and enjoyed computer gaming.

Matthew is survived by his parents- Robert and Robin Harper of Liberal, KS; Sister- Rose Elaine Harper of Liberal, KS; Two Grandmothers- Mary Lou Wharran and Kathryn D. Harper both of Liberal, KS; one niece-Lexus Elaine Epperley.

He was preceded in death by two grandfathers-Ivan L. Wharran and John W. Harper; one uncle- David L. Wharran and one aunt- Kathy Harper.

The family will have a meet and greet at their home on Friday July, 29, 2016 from 11:00am – 6:00pm.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, July 30, 2016, at the First Southern Baptist Church, with Dr. Jack Jacob, officiating.

Burial will follow at the Tyrone Cemetery in Tyrone, Oklahoma.
