Mary Lucille Winkler, 94, formerly of Tyrone, Oklahoma, died Tuesday January 23, 2024 at Homestead Estates in Liberal, Kansas.

She was born January 15, 1930, West of Follett, Texas, to Carl Niedens and Lucille Lenora Paula (Schade) Niedens.

Mary Lucille was baptized at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on February 9, 1930 and was confirmed on July 7, 1946. She graduated high school in Hardesty, Oklahoma in 1948.

She married Martin Ruben Winkler on June 11, 1948 in Perryton, Texas.

She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church, having helped teaching children, a member of Dorcas Society, Altar Guild and wherever she was needed. She and her husband, Martin, lived on their farm near Baker, Oklahoma for 74 years. Mary Lucille enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening and quilting. She made beautiful quilts for her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by four sons, Gary, Luther and wife, Loretta, Douglas and wife, Pamela, Lewis, one daughter, Twyla Gearhart and husband, Ace; seven grandchildren, Ronald, Amy (Ben) Evans, Darin (Lindsey) Winkler, Britton (Nathan) Voss, Brendan (Sarah) Winkler, Shawn Winkler and Rachel Vangieson; eight great grandchildren, Jared Winkler, Kylie Winkler, Madison Cooper, Riley Cooper, Jaxon Winkler, Palmer Winkler, Shawn Winkler, Owen Voss and Bayleigh Voss, 1 brother, Edward Niedens, 3 sisters, Dolores Alhorn, Martha (Jim) Stewart and Wanda (Howard) Herm.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin, her parents, an infant daughter, Theresa, brothers Otto, Carl, a sister, Berneice.

Viewing will be 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Miller Mortuary with the family present to greet friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Grace Lutheran Church, with Pastor Jason Toombs presiding. Burial will follow at the Tyrone Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Grace Lutheran Altar Guild, 1200 W. 11th Street, Liberal, Kansas.
