Mary Lou Wharran, 86, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Homestead Estates in Liberal, Kansas.
She was born February 22, 1931 at Tyrone, Oklahoma, the daughter of Homer William and Cordelia (McAfee) Cain.
She married Ivan Lenard Wharran April 4, 1952 at Tyrone, Oklahoma; he preceded her in death January 25, 2010
Mary Lou was a graduate of Tyrone High School. Shortly after she and Ivan married they moved to Canada where they farmed for three years. In 1955 they moved to Liberal, Kansas. Mary Lou worked for the US Postal Service for 25+ years before retiring in October 1994. Mary Lou enjoyed reading, traveling, watching game shows, baking, bowling and playing Solitaire. Mary Lou also loved to spoil her grandchildren! She was a member of the Eastern Star and the St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Mary Lou is survived by Son- Roger Wharran of Liberal, Kansas; Daughter- Robin Harper and husband Robert of Liberal, Kansas Two Granddaughters- Jessica Wharran of Bloomington, Indiana and Rose Harper of Liberal, Kansas; Brother- Zack Cain of Perryton, TX.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Son- David L. Wharran; Brother- Homer William “Bill” Cain, Jr.; Three Sisters- Bettie lee Cain, Maxine Farmer and Dorothy Olney; Grandson- Matthew Harper
Viewing will be 1:00 pm – 8:00 pm Wednesday, November 22nd at Miller Mortuary with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 – 7:30.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm Friday, November 24th at First Southern Baptist Church with Dr. Jack Jacob officiating. Burial Will follow at the Tyrone Cemetery.
