Mary Lou Meza, age 69, died Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born on March 21, 1952, in Levelland, Texas, the daughter of Bonifacio and Delores (Lombraña) Meza.
Mary Lou grew up in Ulysses and graduated in 1972 from Ulysses High School. She worked at El Ranchito Restaurant as well as the IBP Cafeteria in Garden City. Mary Lou, a long time Ulysses resident, loved to cook and spend time with her family. She treasured the time spent with her grandkids. She collected Tweety bird figurines and Willow Tree Angels. Mary Lou attended Nueva Esperanza Del Nazareno in Dodge City.
Mary Lou is survived by her children, Nancy Mata and husband Lino, Jeremy Jacquez, Jessica Soriano Cruz and husband Juan, and Jesus Soriano and wife Maria all of Dodge City, Kansas; siblings, Lupe Beohler of Ulysses, Modesto Meza of Ulysses, Vicki Lewis of Conroe, Texas, Linda Zuniga of Borger, Texas, Sally Carson of Westmoreland, Kansas, and Joe Meza of Edmond, Oklahoma; 32 grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
Mary Lou is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bill Meza and Manuel Meza; and sisters, Clementine Poppe, Debbie Medina, Madeline Hernandez, and Janie Meza.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Ulysses, Kansas, with Pastor Felix Garcia and Pastor Emilio Raymundo officiating. Interment will follow at Ulysses Cemetery. Visitation is 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, November 19, 2021, at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Ulysses.
