Mary Jane Young

Mary Jane Young, age 75, of Ulysses, Kansas died Monday, February 25, 2013 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses, Kansas. She was born February 7, 1938 in rural Prowers County, Colorado, the daughter of Clyde E. and Martha R. (Hainer) Nodine.
Mary Jane grew up in Colorado and moved to Ulysses when she was in the 10th grade. She graduated from Grant County Rural High School. Mary Jane married Leon Young on August 25, 1957 in Pawnee Rock, Kansas. In 1955, she began working at Grant County Bank and retired in 1988 as a loan assistant. Mary Jane was a member of the Shelton Memorial Christian Church and was a Paul Harris Fellow. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, doing embroidery work, and making doilies for the church bazaar. Mary Jane followed the sports and activities of her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Leon, of the home; two sons, Kevin Young of St. Cloud, Minnesota, Todd Young of Independence, Kansas; daughter, Lisa Dasenbrock and husband Larry of Lakin, Kansas; brother, Loren Nodine of Denver, Colorado; and three grandchildren, Kyle Dasenbrock of Yokohama, Japan, Kevin Dasenbrock of Lakin, Kansas, and Mackenzie Young of St. Cloud, Minnesota.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Joyce Monson.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 1, 2013 at Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses, Kansas with Pastor Phillip Hayes officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, Kansas. Friends may call Thursday, February 28, 2013 from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses, Kansas.
