Mary Jane Sherretts, age 66, died Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center St. Francis in Wichita, Kansas.

She was born on September 24, 1956, the daughter of Cecil Cravens and Dorothy Katherine (James) Cravens, and her foster parents Herbert and Betty Winkler.

Mary graduated from Liberal high school in 1975. Mary was united in marriage to Joe Deen Sherretts on August 13, 1975. She went on to live a full life as a homemaker and mother of two daughters, Kat, and Sara.
She loved music, singing, playing the guitar, piano, organ, and accordion. Mary enjoyed watching car racing, particularly dirt track races, and fishing in her spare time. Mary received great pleasure playing poker and spending time with her poker family. She was very fond of all animals.
Her most cherished title was “Mema” to her beautiful grandchildren whom she adored. Mary was a dear friend to the elderly in need by helping with their care. She had an extraordinary capacity to love and care for others. She created a lot of joy and provided comfort to many during her life.
She is survived by her daughters, Kat Olivas, and her husband Jose of Liberal, Kansas, and Sara Mitchell and her husband Casey of Spring Creek, Nevada; and four grandchildren, Robert Gamble Jr., Jordan Gamble, Anthony Flannery, and Dakota Flannery, and numerous nephews and nieces. She is also survived by her special sons, Josh Pavlicek and Bobby Gamble.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Cecil Cravens and Dorothy Katherine Cravens, and her foster parents Herbert and Betty Winkler, brother, George Cravens, sisters, Minnie Stewart, and Patricia Likins.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 am Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the Hornung Family Funeral Home Chapel, 1212 W. 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas. Interment will be private. The service will be conducted by Pastor Rex Petty.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Angels for Animals in care of Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.
