Mary Helen Thompson, 91, formerly of Kismet, KS passed away on Saturday December 19, 2020 at Protection Valley Manor in Protection, KS.
She was born on June 15, 1929; the daughter of Homer and Zelma (Heston) Edison at Liberal, KS.
On June 28, 1947 she married Ralph Thompson at her mother’s home in Liberal, KS; he preceded her in death in 1983.
Mary grew up and attended schools in Liberal. She enjoyed crocheting, weaving, and tending to her plants and gardens. She was a former president of the Kismet Senior Citizen’s Center. Mary also enjoyed helping others and was a second mother to many in her extended family; known as “Aunt Mary”. She was a member of the Kismet First United Methodist Church.
Mary is survived by her Daughter, Mary Jane Sprout of Kismet, KS; Sister, Eulah Mae Fox of Dallas, Texas; Caretaker & Niece, Carol Foster and Husband Bill of Liberal, KS; Sister in Law, Eva Mae McKnight and husband JC of Westminster, SC; Several Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
There will be no public viewing.
A Graveside Committal Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at the Kismet Cemetery, Kismet, KS, with Pastor Terry Mayhew, officiating.
