Mary Frances Urwin

Mary Frances Urwin, 95, died Friday, March 7, 2014 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, KS.

She was born February 2, 1919 at Sterling, CO, the daughter of Harry and Mary (Tinsley) Gechter.

She married Lynn Urwin February 13, 1952 at Raton, NM. He preceded her in death on February 25, 1989.

Mary was a class of 1937 graduate of Cimarron High School in Cimarron, KS. Mary and her husband moved to Liberal in 1952 where she worked as a housekeeper at the Holiday Inn. She was a Dorm Custodian for Seward County Community College for 14 years before retiring in 1988. Mary enjoyed crocheting, cooking, gardening and loved her friends, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of V.F.W. Auxiliary and the Pershing Ave. Church of Christ.

Her survivors include two sons – Rodney Urwin and wife Gwen of Liberal, KS, Carl Urwin and wife Teresa of Shelby Township, MI; One sister – Palmira Schadegg of Cimarron, KS. 8 Grandchildren ,14 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great Great Grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one son – Robert Anderson, one granddaughter – Stephanie Urwin. two brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be Wednesday March 12 from 10:00 am – 8:00 pm at Miller Mortuary

Funeral Service will be Thursday March 13 at 2:00pm at the Miller Mortuary Chapel.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to St .Judes Children’s Hospital or the Shriner’s Hospital for Children in care of Miller Mortuary.
