Mary Ann Montanez

Mary Ann Montanez, age 60, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Sunday, December 13, 2020, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses. She was born July 5, 1960, in Ulysses, the daughter of Ignacio and Ramona (Rodriguez) Rodriguez.

Mary was born and raised in Ulysses; where she met and married Alonso Montanez. When Mary wasn’t working at Pioneer Electric, she was enjoying her grandkids. Her grandkids were very important to her and she loved being a full-time grandma. Mary enjoyed going to the mountains, where she conquered her fear of heights. She also enjoyed playing Candy Crush and Angry Birds.

Mary is survived by her sons, Manuel Montanez of Ulysses, and Thomas Rodriguez of Sidney, Nebraska; daughters, Lidia Montanez of Ulysses, and Ana Montanez of Aspen, Colorado; brothers, Johnny Rodriguez, David Rodriguez, and Agustin Rodriguez; sisters, Ruth Reyna and Molly Rodriguez; and ten grandchildren, Haide, Dakota, Lupita, Stefany, Christofer, Briana, Nallely, Anthony, Luisangel, and Sebastian.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Alonso.

Vigil and rosary service will be Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at 7:30 PM and funeral mass will be Thursday, December 17, 2020, at 10:00 AM both at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses, Kansas, with Reverend Aneesh Parappanattu, MSFS officiating. Interment will follow at Ulysses Cemetery. Funeral mass may be viewed live on Garnand Funeral Home Facebook Page. Visitation is Wednesday, December 16, 2020, from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
