Mary Ann Honeman

Mary Ann Honeman, 68, of Hooker, Oklahoma passed away May 31, 2015 at Liberal Springs in Liberal, KS.

Mary Ann was born July 2, 1946 at Catholic Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at sixteen days old became the daughter of A.H. “Bud” and Estella Rachel McKirian Schaapveld. Her birth parents were Doyle Nieman and Betty Bishop. The family made Hooker their home where Mary Ann attended school graduating from Hooker High School in 1964.

On August 30, 1963 in Clayton, New Mexico she was united in marriage to Jim Honeman. They had met and know each other from the age of Mary Ann being three and Jim being four. She helped Jim with the farming and kept books for Schaapveld Oil Company in Hooker.

Mary Ann met her birth dad in 2004 and her birth mom in 2010. Also in 2004 she met her half brothers, Doyle and Rod and in 2012 they accompanied Mary Ann and Jim on a cruise in the Mediterranean Sea where they visited Switzerland, Spain and Roman, Italy. Mary Ann happily visited her birth dad and mom many times over the years.

She enjoyed card making, loved her grandkids and shopping gave her a special joy.

She is preceded in death by her parents and birth parents, her two sons, Michael and Troy and sister, Kathleen Mora.

Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Jim of the home; daughter Lori Honeman of Austin, Texas; Daughters in law, Arica Moore of Hooker, Oklahoma and Jennifer Honeman of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Morgan Martens, Tyler Honeman and his fiancée Anne Melsaether, Madison Martens and her fiancée, Dylan Gonzales, Austin Wares, Hadle Brown, Colby Honeman, and one great granddaughter, Raelyn Honeman; Russell Sullins who is like a son to them; sister in law, LaVonne Honeman of Hooker, nephews, Mark Honemen and Spencer Honeman and wife Lisa and their daughter Haley all of Hooker; niece Holly Palmer and nephews, Jeff and Todd Dixon; extended family, Abe and Nancy Wall, Eva Lowen, Johny Wall, Sara Wall. This family has lived on the farm for fifteen years after Michael’s death, four sisters, Karen Ann Rood, Mary Longworth, Debbie Ruiz, Prisilla Nixon, six brothers, Jim Bishop, David Bishop, Dan Bishop, Joe Bishop, Dan Nieman and Rod Nieman.

Memorials contributions are suggest to the Hooker Fire Dept. or the Hooker Ambulance Association and may be left at Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, Oklahoma 73945.

Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, at 1:30 p.m. June 3, 2015 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Liberal, KS.

A Rosary service will be held at Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker, Oklahoma at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2015.

Interment will be at the Hooker Cemetery directed by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker, Oklahoma.
