Marvin D. Stice, age 75, passed away early Thursday morning, December 31, 2020, at his Meade residence.
He was born June 27, 1945, at Meade, Kansas, the son of Henry Clay and Mary Ellen (Wertz) Stice. As a young boy he attended school in Meade, graduating from Meade High School in 1963. Over the years, he worked installing carpet and tile, as well as working for the Meade County Road and Bridge Department before becoming the Meade County Emergency Preparedness Coordinator until his retirement.
He was a member of the Saint John Lutheran Church, Meade. He enjoyed working with stained glass, making pens, remodeling homes, fishing, watching the University of Kansas Jayhawks, and spending time with his family and friends.
On December 16, 1967, he married Ruth Shannon at the United Methodist Church in Meade. She survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Allen Etcheverry and wife Shellie of Grand Junction, Colorado, Rodney Stice of Phoenix, Arizona, and Darrel Stice and wife Mary Ann of Sun City, Arizona; a brother, Charles Stice of Merced, California; two sisters, Ilene Coleman of Phoenix, Arizona, and Retha Buettgenbach of Andover, Kansas; four grandchildren, Justin, Alisha, Tanner, and Jacob; and three great-grandchildren, Remington, Declan, and Stella.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Eugene Stice and Ronald Stice; and three sisters, Betty Bohling, Doris Cope, and Margaret Capra.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 4, 2021, at St. John Lutheran Church, Meade. Cremation has taken place and private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome memorials to St. John Lutheran Church or the Meade District Hospital in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
