Martin Ruben Winkler, 91, of Tyrone, OK passed away on July 25, 2017 at his home.

He was born on December 31, 1925 to August and Minnie (Huebner) Winkler in Rural Seward Co., KS.

On June 11, 1948 he married Mary Lucille Niedens at Perryton, TX. She survives.

He was a Diesel Mechanic for John Deere for 20 years then later became a Farmer, where he also farmed for his local neighbor D.M Brower. Martin enjoyed woodworking, metal working, enjoyed taking his family camping and fishing.

He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Liberal.

Survivors also include four sons: Gary and wife, Janet; Luther and wife, Loretta; Douglas and wife, Pamela; Lewis and one daughter, Twyla Gearhart and husband, Ace. Seven grandchildren: Ron (Charlotte) Winkler, Amy (Ben) Evans, Darin (Lindsey) Winkler, Britton (Nathan) Voss, Brendan (Sarah) Winkler, Shawn Winkler, and Rachel Vangieson. Eight great grandchildren; Jared Winkler, Kylie Winkler, Madison Cooper, Riley Cooper, Jaxon Winkler, Palmer Winkler, Owen Voss, and Shawn D. Winkler.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Theresa; brothers: William, Nestor, Thomas and Herbert; sisters: Frieda Lofland and Lena Winter.

Viewing will be 1:00 pm – 8:00 pm Thursday, July 27, 2017, at Miller Mortuary in Liberal, KS.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Friday, July 28, 2017, at the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Pastor Andrew Wehling, presiding. Burial will follow in the Tyrone Cemetery.
