Marolyn R. Wood, age 93, passed away Thursday afternoon, December 16, 2021, at the Lone Tree Retirement Center, Meade, Kansas.

 

She was born October 5, 1928, at Cedaredge, Colorado, the daughter of Ernest and Dorothy (Nelson) Bull.  As a young girl, she attended school in Cedaredge, graduating from Cedaredge High School in 1946.  She later attended Colorado Women’s College and later Western State College, receiving her Masters of Music Education.  After her graduation, she began her career as a music teacher, teaching in Colorado for many years.

 

While living in Colorado, she was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church where she directed the vocal and bell choirs.  After moving to Meade in 2006, she became a member of the Church of the Nazarene.  She enjoyed music, singing, playing the piano and organ, bridge, and spending time with her family and friends.

 

In 1967, she married Donald (Shorty) Wood in Colorado.   He preceded her in death in January of 2000.

 

She is survived by a son, Robert Wood and wife Kara of Tooele, Utah; a daughter, Alyson Lumry and husband Keith of Meade, Kansas; a stepdaughter, Linda Ewing and husband Bob of Delta, Colorado; a brother, Robert Bull and wife Fern of Evergreen, Colorado; a sister, Jean Gilleece, of Montrose, Colorado; multiple grandchildren and great-grandchild.

 

She is preceded in death by her husband; a stepson, Jim Wood; her parents; and a brother, Willard Bull.

 

Memorial services will be held at a later date with burial in the Bethlehem Cemetery, Paonia, Colorado, as cremation has taken place.  Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade, has been entrusted with memorial arrangements.
