Marlin G. Feil

Marlin G. Feil, 89, of Hooker, Oklahoma passed away at Good Samaritan in Liberal, Kansas February 17, 2016.
Marlin was born April 9, 1926 to Gotfred and Theresa May Feil at Lehigh, Kansas. He was baptized May 24, 1926 at Lehigh, Kansas in the Evangelical Lutheran Church by Rev. H. J. Thiel. Marlin’s sponsors were Mr. and Mrs. G. K. Winter.
The family moved to Hooker, Oklahoma in 1926. Marlin was confirmed in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hooker, Oklahoma on April 28, 1940 by Rev. A. C. Esch. He graduated from Hooker High School with the Class of 1944.
He served in the U. S. Army from 1944 to 1946 serving in the Philippine Islands.
Marlin was united in marriage to Clara A. Schmidt on February 18, 1982 at Lamar, Colorado. Clara passed away August 23, 1988 in Liberal, Kansas.
Marlin was a master carpenter and said he had worked on most of the homes in this area, he was a trustee for St. John’s Lutheran Church, member of the American Legion, and was a board member for many years with the Hooker Cemetery Board.
Marlin was preceded in death by his father, on October 3, 1953 and his mother on October 18, 1981, brother, Harry E. Feil and four sisters, Olinda J. Bohling, Laura A. Stalder, Julia M. Cypert, LaVerna Lou Skillings.
Members of the family include two step sons, Terry Schmidt of Hooker, Oklahoma and Anthony & Tammy Schmidt of Georgetown, Texas; niece Sue Robertson of Niangua, Missouri, nephews, Jerry Bohling of Terrytown, Louisianna, David Feil of Perryton, Texas, David Stalder of Yukon, Oklahoma, Mitch McNabb of St. Louis, Missouri; three step grandchildren, Tyson, Mindy and Christopher.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Conrad Oehlert officiating. Interment will be in Hooker Cemetery directed Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker, Oklahoma.
