Mark Wayne Wilson, 58, of Travis County Texas passed away of natural causes unexpectedly & peacefully in his home May 12, 2024. Mark was born August 20, 1965 to Billy Lynn Wilson and Donna Dee Johnson Wilson in Tulia Texas.

Mark graduated from Liberal High School in 1983. He earned a Bachelor Degree in Science from Southwestern College, Winfield Kansas and a Master Degree in Science from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Weatherford Oklahoma. Further Mark earned a comprehensive Culinary Certificate at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Austin Texas. Mark also earned a Captain’s License from the United States Coast Guard Maritime School.

Mark had numerous accomplishments in his life including playing collegiate tennis, working as a Sous Chef in numerous culinary establishments, and serving as a Captain for a deep sea and fresh water fishing cruise company. He was in charge of expeditions off the coast of Texas in both USA and International Waters. Mark possessed a radiant personality, a love for life, and he never met a stranger. He loved people and people loved him. Mark was the quintessential dog lover and enjoyed a lifetime of dogs whom he treated as family members. Mark was a capable marksman and enjoyed upland game hunting as well as fishing. His travels took him to interesting venues in pursuit of big fish. Mark retained his ability as an excellent tennis player and golfer throughout his life.

Mark, a devout Christian, was a member of the United Methodist Church of Mooreland, Oklahoma and was involved in a Methodist Church in his home area as well. Mark is survived by his sister Lynn Wilson of Liberal Kansas, his brother and sister in law Dr. Steve Wilson and Mary Wilson of Hutchinson Kansas, numerous nephews and nieces and their children. Mark also is survived by numerous cousins and family members.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, June 1 at 11:00 am at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Liberal Kansas.

Memorials are suggested to be made payable to Cross Roads Therapeutic Riding Center of Liberal Kansas in care of Miller Mortuary PO Box 826 Liberal Kansas.
