Mark Wayne McCarty was born on August 19, 1963, in Rocky Ford, CO and left his earthly body May 5, 2021, in Elkhart, KS. Mark was the first born to Elwin Wayne McCarty and Patti Lea Scofield McCarty.
The family moved to Johnson City, KS. He was soon joined by sisters. The family moved to Keyes, OK when he was in elementary school. Mark graduated from Keyes High School. He attended OPSU for a couple of years until he enrolled in a technical program at TSTI in Amarillo, TX. Mark graduated with an Associates Degree in Laser Technology in May, 1987. He moved to Chicago and went to work for Mazak. After a few years, he moved to Grapevine, TX while continuing to work for Mazak. Soon after, he opened his own business servicing laser machines. Mark returned to southwest Kansas in 2012 but continued to travel to service his long-time customers.
Mark enjoyed his friends and family and the lifetime of memories they gave him. He loved to fish and would be on the lake first thing come the weekend. Sometimes when work was too busy to golf, he would take his clubs with him just hoping he could play a course. He loved NASCAR and the Texas Motor Speedway. Mark was a jokester and would often call you with a joke. His work took him all over the country and introduced him to many people. Many of his clients became his best friends, life-long friends. Mark was a beloved son who called his mother every day.
Mark is survived by his sisters, Sherri Hitchings and husband Todd of Boise City, OK, Vicki Peacock and husband Jimmy of Elkhart, KS, Debbie Lang and husband Jim of Dallas, TX, Lanelle Johnson and husband Eric of Elkhart, KS, and Lanette Patte and husband Richard of France; brother, Donny Bellomy and wife, Chelsey of Emporia, KS, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father Elwin McCarty, mother Patti Bellomy and step father Jim Bellomy
Memorial service will be Monday, May 10, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Keyes United Methodist Church in Keyes, OK with Pastor Rick Forthman officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Morton County Library in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.
