Mark Gerstberger CDR, USNR, DO, age 58, of Ulysses, Kansas died Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center – St. Francis Campus in Wichita, Kansas. He was born December 2, 1956 in Tribune, Kansas, the son of William and Mary Frances (Mautz) Gerstberger.
Mark was raised on the family farm and ranch in Logan County. He served in the Special Forces Airborne 5th SFG, in the United States Army from 1974-1979. He also served in the United States Navy from 1982 to the present in SEAL Team 1. Mark was a family practice physician from 1998 to the present. He loved his work and medical practice.
He is survived by his loving wife Laura Lea and three wonderful sons, James, Daniel and Thomas; brothers Bill Jr. and wife Sheri, Dale and wife Andrea, sister Linda and grandchildren Branson and Conner.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents and brother John.
Celebration of life will be from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at the Grant County Civic Center, South Room in Ulysses, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be given to the Mark Gerstberger, DO Memorial Fund for Lymphoma Cancer Research in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
