Mark C. Anton, age 68, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021, at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas.
He was born February 1, 1953, at Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Richard and Clara Anne (Frazier) Anton. As a young boy he attended school in Kansas City until his family moved out to the family farm which he helped run. He graduated from Ensign High School. After his graduation, he graduated from Friends Bible College in Haviland, Kansas. A resident of Plains for many years, he was a schoolteacher, having taught in Kismet and Plains for twenty-seven years. In addition to his teaching career he was a school bus driver for many years.
He was a member of the Plains Friends Church, serving in several capacities within the church. He enjoyed model trains, biking, antiquing and was a jack-of-all trades. Mark loved being useful to everyone especially to his children and grandchildren, and spending time with his family and friends.
He married Nancy Jean Powell on June 1, 1974 in Stafford, Kansas. She survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Philip Anton and wife Connie of Alva, Oklahoma, Luke Anton and wife Kayte of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, and Alan Anton and wife Lisa of Tulsa, Oklahoma; three brothers, David Anton and wife Edwina of Montezuma, Greg Anton and wife Lark of Wichita, Kansas, and John Anton of Dallas, Texas; a sister Margo Sayre and husband Steve of Ensign, Kansas; and seven grandchildren, Laura, Toby, Isaac, Ruby, Abel, Caelan, and Kiara.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 18, 2021, at the Plains Friends Church, Plains. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Interment will follow in the Plains Cemetery.
The family would welcome memorials to Plains Friends Church and Fowler Residential Care in care of the funeral home.
