Marjorie C. Persinger

Marjorie C. Persinger, a lifetime resident of Stevens County, age 92 passed away on September 14, 2015. She was born August 14, 1923 in Stevens County to Benjamin Wesley Parsons and Aldora Smith Parsons. Marjorie was married to J. Garland Persinger in 1940 and they had three children—Charlotte F. Baron of Denver, James G. Persinger of Hugoton, and Nancy C. Littell of Wichita. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Garland, her brothers Wayne Parsons, Phil Parsons, her sister Dorothy Parsons Parker, and her granddaughter, Wendy Persinger. Marjorie is survived by her brother, Roger N. Parsons of Ft. Worth, Texas. Marjorie is survived by her children, eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
In her childhood Marjorie rode her horse to school in Moscow. A graduate of Hugoton High, Marjorie was a devoted mother and farm wife who enjoyed the Kansas prairies and searching for arrowheads. One of her noted achievements was finding a flint spear point, while volunteering with the Earth Watch Institute in Washington. She was proud to be a 4-H Club leader, a member of the First Christian Church of Hugoton, Order of the Eastern Star, the Santa Fe Trail Association, the Stevens County Gas and Historical Museum, Bas Bleu, the Gold Diggers Investment Club, and to be named Stevens County Pioneer Queen in 2004. She is best remembered by her family for her exquisite needlework, world travels, and in sharing her arrowhead hunting adventures in Southwest Kansas.
Friends may call Friday 1PM to 8PM and The family will host a viewing and receive visitors at Paul’s Funeral Home, 314 S Van Buren St. on Friday, September 18, from 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be held at the Hugoton First Christian Church, 600 S. Van Buren St. on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 2:00 pm followed by burial at the Hugoton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorial contributions may be made to Pheasant Heaven Charities of Hugoton
