Marilyn R. Steinkuehler, age 85, died September 17, 2022, at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal, Kansas. She was born March 27, 1937, near Denver, Colorado, the daughter of Jack O. and Ann (Zawodsky) Sandlin.

Marilyn graduated from high school in Denver and continued her education at Panhandle A&M College in Goodwell, Oklahoma, for one year. Marilyn married Marvin Wayne Steinkuehler on January 3, 1958, in Denver. She was a bank teller, store clerk and faithful helper on the farm. She was also a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and served as their pianist for over 20 years. Marilyn loved playing for the kids, and always had a tootsie roll handy in her pocket for the little ones. She enjoyed bowling and was on a bowling team, and a member of a sorority.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Wayne of their home; sister, Dorothy Rowland of Denver, Colorado; and several nieces and nephews.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, J.O. and Ann Sandlin; and brother, Bill Sandlin.

Memorial service will be held Friday, September 23, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Elkhart with Reverend Terrell Giddens officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Elkhart Cemetery. Family will be present to greet friends Thursday, September 22, 2022, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.
