Marilyn L. Dewell, age 88, passed away late Wednesday evening, March 24, 2021, at the Meade District Hospital, Meade, Kansas.

She was born July 6, 1932, at Fowler, Kansas, the daughter of Leo and Elenora (Dabbelt) Klein.  As a young girl she attended school in Fowler, graduating from Fowler High School in 1949.

On June 2, 1949, she married William E. (Bill) Dewell at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Fowler.  After their marriage, the couple made their home in Fowler where she raised her family and worked as a bookkeeper for Dewell Motor Company for many years.

She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, the Daughters of Isabella, Altar Society, and served on the Fowler Public Library Board.  She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, bird watching, volunteering at the Fowler Nursing Home, and spending time with her family, friends, and especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children Steve Dewell and wife Judy of Fowler, Ron Dewell and wife Susan of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Cheryl Knott and husband Larry of Fowler, Kay Morgan and husband Patrick of Denver, Colorado, Kevin Dewell and wife Susan of Meade, Kansas, Kent Dewell and wife Kathy of Omaha, Nebraska, Todd Dewell and wife Jill of Dodge City, Kansas, and Dee Dee Dewell of Wichita, Kansas; two brothers, Lloyd Klein of Citrus Heights, California, and Marvin Klein of Kansas City, Missouri; eighteen grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers, Urban, Robert, and Norbert Klein; two sisters, Marcella Finkeldei and Lucille Unzicker; and a grandson, Eric Zimmerman.

Vigil services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 28, 2021, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Fowler.  Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 29, 2021, at the church.  Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.  Interment will follow the service in the Fowler Cemetery.

The family would welcome memorials to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church Building Fund or the Fowler Public Library in care of the funeral home.
