Maria F. Payen

Maria F. Payen, age 90, of Johnson, Kansas died Monday, December 5, 2016, at her home in Johnson, Kansas. She was born March 31, 1926, in Ojinaga, Chihuahua Mexico, the daughter of Leon Urquidiz and Pascuala Rodriguez.

Maria, a homemaker, married Ezequiel Payen, Sr. She enjoyed cooking and baking. She welcomed family and friends into her home and provided them with a warm meal. Singing was very important to her and she looked forward to family reunions where singing was a big part of them. Maria was a hard worker and provided for her family after her husband’s death. She moved to Johnson in 1994 from Barranco Azul, Ojinaga, Chihuahua Mexico. Maria was a member of Iglesia Monte De Sion in Johnson.

She is survived by her children, Maria Elena Rodriguez of Johnson, Kansas, Magdaleno Payen of Odessa, Texas, Luis Payen of Odessa, Texas, Samuel Payen of Odessa, Texas, Edvardo Payen of Satanta, Kansas, Esau Payen of Midland, Texas, Ezequiel Payen, Jr. of Andrews, Texas, Maricela Gomez of Johnson, Kansas; brother, Abraham Urquidiz of Kermit, Texas; 26 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ezequiel Payen, Sr; son, Guadalupe Payen; and grandson, Reyes Payen.

Funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at the Iglesia Monte De Sion in Johnson, Kansas. Friends may call from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Tuesday, December 06, 2016, at Iglesia Monte De Sion in Johnson, Kansas. Funeral service will be Thursday, December 8, 2016, at Iglesia Poder De Restauracion in Odessa, Texas. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at Acres West Funeral Chapel & Crematory in Odessa, Texas. Interment will be in the Ector County Cemetery in Odessa, Texas.
