Margaret L. Davis, age 85, passed away Wednesday evening, September 19, 2018, at the Minneola Nursing Home, Minneola, Kansas.
She was born October 11, 1932, at Minneola, Kansas, the daughter of Earl and Edith (Foster) Harris. As a young girl she attended school in Minneola, graduating from Minneola High School as Valedictorian.
On August 13, 1950, she married Lester D. (Doug) Davis at Minneola. After their marriage the couple made their home in rural Meade County where she worked at the Meade County Courthouse for several years and assisted her husband with the daily duties of farm life.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, sang in the church choir, helped with the Mission Mart, and sang with the Golden Notes. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing, spending time with her family, friends, and especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Kent Davis and wife Loretta, and Roger Davis and wife Heather, both of Meade; a brother, Ronald Harris and wife Shirley of Minneola; a sister Doris Tabor and husband Gary (Corky) of Garden City, Kansas; five grandchildren, Amy, Skylie, Kayla, Logan, and Morgan; and six great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Bailey, Paisley, Maizy, Bentley, Harper.
She is preceded in death by her husband Doug on April 30, 2005; a brother Norman Harris; and a sister, Phyllis Poulain.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 29, 2018, at the United Methodist Church, Meade. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Interment will follow in the Graceland Cemetery, Meade.
The family would welcome memorials to the United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
