MEADE – Margaret J. Capra, age 91, passed away late Sunday evening, November 18, 2018, at the Lone Tree Retirement Center, Meade, Kansas.
She was born July 1, 1927, at Oswego, Kansas, the daughter of Henry Clay and Mary Ellen (Wertz) Stice. As a young girl she attended school in Fowler, Kansas. After her schooling, she began her career as a waitress, working at several restaurants.
She married Calvin Collins. They later divorced. On December 16, 1967, she married Joseph Capra. He precedes her in death in 1983. After the death of her husband, she moved back to Meade.
She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, playing Yatzee and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by two sons, Robert Collins of Meade, Kansas, and Billy Hoppes of Soldier, Kansas; two daughters, Juanita Tacha and Cherrie Hoppes, both of Meade; two brothers, Marvin Stice of Meade and Charles Stice of Merced, California; two sisters, Mabel Ilene Coleman of Postville, Iowa, and Retha Buettgenbach of Wichita, Kansas; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph; a son, Danny Collins; two brothers, Eugene Stice and Ronald Stice; and two sisters, Doris Cope and Betty Bohling.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2018, at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in the Graceland Cemetery, Meade.
The family would welcome memorials to the St. John Lutheran Church Building Fund or the Lone Tree Retirement Center in care of the funeral home.
