Margaret D. Bartel

Margaret D. Bartel, age 85, passed away Wednesday evening, at the Minneola District Hospital Long Term Care.

She was born February 23, 1937, at Meade, Kansas, the daughter of John B. and Margaret P. (Doerksen) Bartel. As a young girl, she attended school in Meade. She later attended the Grace Hospital School of Nursing in Hutchinson. After her graduation from nursing school, she worked in the republic of Haiti for two years. She then attended the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing in Kentucky, receiving her degree as a nurse practitioner. She then spent three years in Central America before returning to Western Kansas.

She was a member of the Emmanuel Mennonite Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher and with mission work, the ANA, ACNP, and the ACNM.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including, Arlene Eidger of Meade and Lawrence Bartel of Liberty, Missouri.

She is preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Henry C. Bartel, George D. Bartel, John C. Bartel, and Dick D. Bartel; and two sisters, Marie C. Bryant and Sara D. Reimer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 Saturday, July 9, 2022, at the Emmanuel Mennonite Church, Meade. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Interment will follow in the Emmanuel Mennonite Church Cemetery, rural Meade.

The family would welcome memorials the Gospel Link, the World Impact Wichita Ministry or the Emmanuel Mennonite Church Missions in care of the funeral home.
