Manuela G. Manzano, age 89, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. She was born May 31, 1934, in Paloma, Chihuahua, Mexico, the daughter of Manuel and Guadalupe (Caballero) Galindo.
Manuela has resided in Ulysses since 1968. She loved the Lord and her family. She was passionate about her faith and enjoyed humming and singing hymns throughout the day. A devout Christian and prayer warrior, she spent many hours reading the Bible and praying for her family and friends. She was a faithful member of the Assembly of God Church in Lakin and loved to hear her grandchildren sing on the Worship Team. Manuela loved talking on the telephone and spent many hours keeping up with her kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren’s activities. She enjoyed flower gardening, cooking, and shopping. She took pride in her appearance and never left the house until she looked her best.
Manuela is survived by her sons, Nahum Manzano and wife Margarita of Maize, Israel Manzano of Wichita, David Manzano and wife Yesenia of Ulysses, and Daniel Manzano of Ulysses; daughters, Enedelia Franco of Monett, Missouri, Nancy Contreras and husband, Roy of Wichita, Ludi Franco and husband, Pastor Rafael of Lakin, and Mavi Franco and husband, Homer of Ulysses; one brother, Hermelindo; three sisters, Helen, Genevieve, and Maria; 37 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Manuela is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Guadalupe Galindo; son, Robert Manzano, Jr.; and grandson, Jason Manzano.
Funeral service will be Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 2:30 PM at Oasis Church in Ulysses with Pastor Rafael Franco officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, October 13, 2023, from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
