Manuel Ochoa

Manuel Ochoa, age 77, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Saturday, October 14, 2023, at his home in Ulysses. He was born May 24, 1946, in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico, the son of Casimiro and Francisca Ochoa.

Manuel grew up and attended school in Mexico. He married Angelica Ochoa Cortez and they moved to Copeland, Kansas, together and later settled in Ulysses, Kansas, in 1975. He worked at Grant County Feeders as a Processor, a Scraper Operator and then in maintenance. He retired from the City of Ulysses after working in the Street Department. He enjoyed working in his yard and tinkering with anything that needed to be worked on. He loved writing music and was the lead singer in the band, La Brisa Del Norte and sang at church.

Manuel is survived by his children, Jesse Ochoa of Ulysses, Kansas, Orlando Ochoa of Odessa, Texas, Michael Ochoa of Pratt, Kansas, David Ochoa of Ulysses, Kansas, and Sylvia Ortiz of Ulysses, Kansas; two brothers, Eusebio Ochoa of Kansas, AND Ramon Ochoa of Texas; one sister, Antonia Armendariz of Texas; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Manuel is preceded in death by his parents, Casimiro and Francisca Ochoa; three sisters and one brother; wife, Angelica Ochoa; and daughter, Sylvia Ochoa.

Funeral Service will be Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at 10:00 am at Primera Iglesia Bautista in Ulysses with Pastor Gustavo Perez officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, October 16, 2023, and Tuesday, October 17, 2023, from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
