Manford A. Herron

Manford A. Herron, age 79, of Manter, Kansas died Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis in Wichita, Kansas. He was born May 12, 1931 in Morton County, Kansas, the son of Thomas Johnson and Minnie Bell (Haines) Herron.
Manford, a farmer and rancher, was a lifelong Morton County resident. He attended Richfield and Manter schools. On October 16, 1948, Manford and Georgia Bracken were married in Amarillo, Texas. Manford attended the Bible Baptist Church in Elkhart until it closed and then attended the Faith Baptist Church in Johnson. He enjoyed woodworking, welding, building things and working with his hands.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia of the home; one daughter, Patty Lou Rains and husband Eugene of Meade, Kansas; one sister, Wanda Batterton of Johnson, Kansas; and two grandchildren, Chane Westen Rains and wife Kasey of Durango, Colorado, Flint Eric Rains and fiancé Michaela Stuard of San Angelo, Texas.
Manford is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and Marvin Herron; and sister, Edith Breicheisen.
Visitation: 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 07, 2011 at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson, Kansas.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 08, 2011 at Faith Baptist Church in Johnson, Kansas with Pastor Carl Kissell and Pastor Steve Rains officiating.
Interment: Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson, Kansas.
