Luis F. Rivera-Holguin

Luis F. Rivera-Holguin, age 18, passed away late Friday evening, January 5, 2018, in rural Meade County, Kansas, as a result of an automobile accident.
 
He was born October 7, 1999, at Dodge City, Kansas, the son of Rachael Holguin.  A lifetime resident of Meade, he was currently a senior at Meade High School.  He had worked at the Meade Thriftway, the Meade Auto Truck Plaza, for USD 226 during the summers, for the Boggs family, and Golden Boy Tacos.
 
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Meade, and had participated as a member of the basketball and football teams.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, roping, assisting family and friends with many different projects, and would be referred to as a “Gentle Giant.”  Luis always wore a smile and was loved by all he came in contact with.
 
He is survived by his mother, Rachael of Meade; a brother, Jonathan Holguin of Meade; grandparents, Bill and Sue Riedlinger of Meade; uncles, Roberto “Beto” Holguin and wife Tami of Meade, and Benjamin and Amber Holguin of Newton; aunt Rebecca Lynn and husband Joe of Valley Center, Kansas; and several Cousins and many other family members. 
 
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Haracio Holguin.
 
Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.  Holy Mass will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, at the church.  Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.  Interment will follow the service in the Graceland Cemetery, Meade.
 
The family would welcome memorials in Luis’ name to assist with arrangements in care of the funeral home.
