Loyde Myrl Wilkerson

Loyde Myrl Wilkerson, age 89, died Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Beaver County Memorial Hospital, Beaver, OK He was born September 7, 1925 in Dombey, OK, the son of Everett and Carrie (Comstock) Wilkerson.

He graduated from Turpin High School in 1943. He was a lifetime resident of Turpin, OK.

He and his wife owned and operated their own farm during the 1950’s. He worked at Beech Aircraft, owned and operated the Turpin Grocery Store during the 1950’s – 1960’s. He also worked for S & S Irrigation. During the 1980’s and 1990’s he worked for Beaver County Road Maintenance Department as heavy equipment operator, primarily a road grader.

On December 30, 1945, he married Betty Lewis at Garden City, KS. She survives.

He was member of the Turpin United Methodist Church.

1 Son Rodger Wilkerson and wife Paula Shattuck, OK

2 Daughters Lynda Baylor and husband David Oklahoma City, OK
Carolyn Henness and husband Gary Turpin, OK

7 Grandchildren Kari Jones and husband Willis, Lisa Babcock and husband Chuck, Jill Weaver and husband Wendell, Lia Roberts and husband Brian, Brady Baylor and wife Micah, Luke Henness and wife Ruthie and Josh Henness and wife Kristin and 14 Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 Brothers Lawrence, Ralph and Orville Wilkerson and 1 Sister Thelma Bridenstine, and infant Grandson Ryan Henness.

Funeral Service will be held 10:30 am Thursday, November 13, 2014 at the Turpin United Methodist Church, Turpin, OK. With Pastor Todd Bergman presiding. Private family burial will follow services at the Independence Cemetery, Turpin, OK. The casket will remain closed at the church.

Visitation will be from 9 am – 8 pm Wednesday at Brenneman Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Turpin United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer’s Association, in care of Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. 2nd, Liberal KS 67901.
