Louis G. Garcia

Louis G. Garcia, age 68, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Monday, February 14, 2022, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses, Kansas. He was born January 5, 1954, in Plainview, Texas, the son of Ernesto and Esperanza (Garcia) Garcia.

Louis lived in Texas until the age of 12 when he moved with his family to Ulysses in 1965. Louis worked for Smyth Oil & Gas, and also did construction and concrete work. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, leatherwork, going to casinos, and scratch tickets. Louis mostly enjoyed his family, and watching his kids and grandkids and supporting them in all their endeavors.

Louis is survived by son, Ernest and Anna Garcia of Ulysses; daughters, Monette Marino and husband Raul of Dodge City, Lanette Garcia of Ulysses, Christina Garcia of Dodge City, and Ronette Garcia and husband Anthony of Dodge City; stepsons, Andrew Lovato and wife Maria of Guymon, Oklahoma, and Levens Lovato and wife Rose of Little Rock, Arkansas; step-daughter, Gina Lovato of Mineola, Texas; brothers, Wally Garcia and wife Dora of Garden City, and Ernie Garcia and wife Cindy of Ulysses; sisters, Irene Garcia-Nieto and husband Jesus of Ulysses, and Salome Perez and husband Bob of Lakin; 25 grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren.

Louis is preceded in death by his parents; Ernesto and Esperanza Garcia; siblings, Mary Valdez and Juan Garcia; two grandchildren, Vicente Garcia and Giovanni Garcia; and one step-son, Steven Lovato.

Vigil Service will be Thursday, February 17, 2022, at 7:00 PM and Funeral Mass will be Friday, February 18, 2022, at 10:00 AM both at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses, Kansas, with Reverend Charles Seiwert officiating. Funeral mass will be also be streamed live on Garnand Funeral Home Facebook page. Interment will follow at Ulysses Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday, February 17, 2022, from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Memorial contributions may be given to Louis G.
