Lorraine C. Homer, age 94, passed away Tuesday morning, April 10, 2018, at the Minneola Long Term Care Center, Minneola, Kansas.
She was born February 20, 1924, at Fowler, Kansas, the daughter of Virgil and Margaret (Fishbach) Callahan. As a young girl she attended St. Anthony’s Parochial School, later graduating from Fowler High School in 1942. A lifetime area resident, she had worked for Meade Manufacturing, the Fowler State Bank and as secretary for the Meade City office for many years.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the Meade Golf Club, serving as treasurer. She enjoyed playing cards, quilting, golfing, bowling, and spending time with her family and friends.
On February 2, 1945, she married Johnny T. Homer, Jr. at Alexandria, Louisiana. He precedes her in death on November 13, 2010.
She is survived by three sons, Johnny T. Homer III and wife Dixie of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Bob Homer and wife Jane of Grove, Oklahoma, and Jim Homer and wife Barbara of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Johnny T. Homer IV and wife Ericka of Plano, Texas, Bob Homer, Jr. and wife Bridgette of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Brad Homer and wife Carrie of Miami, Oklahoma, and Brandon Homer and wife Jenee` of Humble, Texas; nine great-grandchildren, Quinn Homer, Cameron Homer, and Zachary Homer of Plano, Texas; Avery Homer and Kate Homer of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; David Homer and Abigail Homer of Miami, Oklahoma; Wyatt Homer and Briggs Homer of Humble, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her husband; a daughter Linda Homer on September 26, 1992; two brothers, Wilbert and Vince Callahan; and a sister, Alverta Callahan.
Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2018, at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until service time with the family present from 6:00 p.m. until service time. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2018, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Meade. Interment will follow in the Fowler Cemetery, Fowler, Kansas.
The family would welcome memorials to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in care of the funeral home.
