Lora Lucille Cox

Lora Lucille Cox, age 82, passed away early Tuesday morning, August 20, 2019, at the Lone Tree Retirement Center, Meade, Kansas.

 

She was born March 23, 1937, at Plains, Kansas, the daughter of W.A. “Bill” and Birdie (Young) Hughan.   As a young girl she attended the Plains school system, graduating from Plains High School in 1955.  

 

On April 2, 1957, she married Ivan R. Cox at Clayton, New Mexico.  After their marriage, the couple  made their home in Plains.  A lifetime resident of Plains, she is a homemaker.

 

She is a member of the First Baptist Church, Plains.  Lora enjoys crocheting, working puzzles, and spending time with her family and friends.

 

She is survived by:

Two sons,                                    Jerry Cox of Plains, Kansas

                                                Terry Cox of Meade, Kansas

 

A daughter-in-law,                        Cathy Davidson and husband Terry of Guymon, Oklahoma

 

A brother,                                    Darrell Hughan of Satanta, Kansas

 

A sister,                                     Loretta Stone of Tribune, Kansas

 

Seven grandchildren                                    Twelve great-grandchildren

 

She is preceded in death by her husband on October 31, 2008; two sons, Robert “Bob” Cox on August 25, 2003, and Paul Cox on October 11, 2014; seven brothers, Shorty, Bill, Whitey, Dean, Don, Gerald, and Joy Hughan; two sisters, Rene Rutherford and Agnes Sidebottom; and a granddaughter, Terra Cox.

 

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2019, at the First Baptist Church, Plains, Kansas.  Cremation has taken place and interment will be in the Plains Cemetery at a later date.  Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade, is in charge of arrangements.
