Lois Meddock

Lois Meddock, 92 died, Sunday August 19, 2012 at Lone Tree Retirement Center in Meade Kansas.

She was born Sept. 13, 1919 at Uniontown, KS the daughter of Fay and Ruth (Bobbitt) Keith
She graduated from Uniontown High School and attended Ft. Scott, Junior College.

She was a homemaker and has worked in the courthouse in Fort Scott then taught school in a one room schoolhouse outside of Uniontown, KS. She later became co-owner of Meddock Implement where she became the bookkeeper, parts clerk, and secretary.

On July 3, 1941 she married Bertram M. Meddock in Bronson, KS. He died Dec. 21, 1998.

She and her husband farmed in Bronson, KS and in 1955 moved to Texhoma, OK, then in 1957 they moved to Spearman, TX. In 1962 they moved to Beaver, OK to operate Meddock Implement before moving the business south of Liberal, KS.

She enjoyed playing the piano, quilting and traveling.

Elaine Meddock of Turpin, OK
Brother Ralph Keith and wife Laura of Oaksdale, CA
Sisters Marie Reynolds of Oaksdale, CA
Kathryn Panzner and husband Dick of Dighton, KS
Sister-in-law Alleene Keith of Solsbyville, CA.

Grandchildren Stephanie Tice, Crescent, OK, Joy Garcia and husband Ted, El Prado, NM, Emily Gehrer, Liberal, KS, Mike Meddock. Fowler, KS, Ellis Meddock, St. Marys, GA, and David Tice, Mulhall, OK, Roger Close and wife Diane Spearman, TX and Danny Close, Spearman, TX and nine great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by Parents brothers David, Alva, and Carl, sister Tressie Hunsaker and granddaughter Michelle Tice and brother in law Jim Reynolds.

Graveside service will be held at 2:30 pm Friday at Ft. Scott National Cemetery with Chaplin James Stradley, VFW Post #1165 presiding.
Visitation time will be from 9am to 8pm Wednesday with the family will be present to greet friends from 6 to 8pm at Brenneman Funeral Home

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Hospice of the Prairie or Lone Tree Retirement Center or Charity of Donor’s Choice in care of Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, KS 67901.
