Lois Jean Hensley, age 87, died Thursday, Mary 23, 2019, at The Shepherd’s Center in Cimarron, Kansas. She was born March 18, 1932, to Robert Earl and Minnie Pearl Sivils Hensley on a ranch near Gillette, Wyoming. Her grandmother, Ida Susan Woods Hensley, the local midwife, delivered her. Their family moved to Lamar, Colorado after they lost their ranch during the Great Depression.
Jeannie married JK Owens in 1950. They lived on a farm near Richfield, Kansas. They had four children, Jill, Pam, Jana and Kelly. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at the Bible Baptist Church in Elkhart, Kansas, as a young mother. JK preceded her in death in 1968.
Jeannie married Charles Landrum in 1970. His children, Mike and Peggy, joined Jean’s children in their very own version of the Brady Bunch. Charles always said he could have been rich writing the story of their families.
Jeannie was a candy striper at Morton County Hospital, member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year, Point Rock Riders, Sunday School teacher, WMU leader, 4H leader, Mrs. Santa for the community, dressed up as a clown for the care center, was a host of characters for grandchildren’s birthdays. She loved attending her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids school and church events. Jeannie was a care-taker at heart. She took care of so many family members in times of need. She had a passionate love for Jesus and passed that solid foundation on to her family. Her favorite stories to tell were ones of being present at her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s births and how all of us have accepted Jesus as our own personal savior.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands JK Owens and Charles Landrum, siblings Rose and Charlie Ebersole, Buck Hensley, Pat Lindenberg and Jack Hensley.
She is survived by her brother-in-law Joe Landrum, sister-in-law Rosalie Yett, children Mike and Jill Landrum, Pam and Phil Frazier, Peggy and Steve Wise, Jana Shadrick, Kelly and Cassie Owens, 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
