Lindon Burl “L.B.” Courtney

Lindon Burl “L.B.” Courtney, 85, died Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, KS.
He was born June 20, 1927 in Paris, Arkansas, the son of William Alfred and Lottie Seletha (Suttles) Courtney. He had attended school in St. Paul, KS and lived in Dodge City for many years before moving to Liberal in 1965.
He was a self-employed contractor owning Lucky Lindy’s Construction, and also had worked for Rush Construction, Morris Atkinson Construction and Johns Construction.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church and a life member of the V.F.W.
He served in the US Army from 1945 to 1947.
On July 3, 1967, he married Judith “Judy” Clarice Sturtevant in Liberal, KS. She survives.

4 Sisters – Verla “Inez” Gudde, Olathe, KS;
Una “Ginny” Rumberg, Wichita, KS;
Doris Jean Keith, Beaverton, OR;
Sandra “Sandy” Courtney, Beaverton, OR;
7 Grandchildren – Joseph Harvey Creason IV; Rachel Elaine Creason; Heather Courtney Warfield and husband Steve; Valerie Courtney Barnes and husband Daniel; Taylor Courtney
Apsley; Jordyn Lynne Apsley and Eryn Nichole Apsley.
5 Great-Grandchildren – Ethan Samuel Barnes, Jesse Daniel Barnes and Sophia Courtney Warfield, Ayla Catherine Warfield and Asher Garrison Warfield.
Preceded in death by parents, 6 Brothers – Jerry; Winifred; Vernon; Coy; Roy and Ray Courtney, 1 Sister – Irene Courtney.
Graveside Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, Jan.18, 2013 at Liberal Cemetery with Pastors David Bagwell Loren Robinson presiding.
Visitation time will be held 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday with the family present to receive friends from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at Brenneman Funeral Home.
