Lillie F. James, age 90, passed away Friday morning, November 2, 2018, at the Lone Tree Retirement Center, Meade, Kansas.
She was born January 5, 1928, at Springdale, Arkansas, the daughter of Frank and Goldie (Gant) Atkinson. As a young girl, she attended school in Arkansas.
On February 1, 1944, she married Lee James in Ada, Oklahoma. They lived for many years in Garden City, Kansas, and retired in Welch, Oklahoma. Following Lee’s death, Lillie lived in Springdale, Arkansas, and Meade, Kansas. A resident of Meade for two years, she lived at Lone Tree Retirement Center.
She enjoyed sewing, cooking, crafting, and spending time with her family and friends. She loved to read, and she and Lee were active members of the Good Sam Club, where they traveled extensively for many years.
She is survived by two sons, Melvin James of Kingman, Arizona, and Milton James of Tucson, Arizona; five brothers, James, Eugene, Elmer, Joe, and Jerry Atkinson; a sister, Essie James; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband; a son, Marvin James; a daughter, Deloris James and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 8, 2018, at the Emmanuel Mennonite Church, Meade. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Interment will follow in the Graceland Cemetery, Meade.
The family would welcome memorials to the Lone Tree Retirement Center in care of the funeral home.
