After an amazing life Lillian Ruth Fawcett, age 97, died on Monday, June 10, 2024, in Sedgwick County, Kansas.

Ruth was born in Lakin Kansas, on March 27, 1927, to her loving parents, Elijah Andrew and Opal Clara (Childers) Pennington. After graduating from Liberal High School in 1945, Ruth embarked on a journey of love and companionship on September 22, 1947, she was united in marriage to Wendell Carl Wettstein. Together they built a life filled with memories until Wendell’s passing on May 5, 1977. Ruth worked as a Cafeteria Dietitian starting at Kismet Elementary and High School and later at Southwestern Heights High School. She was a devoted homemaker and mother to her three children as well. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her professional roles as she took care of the family farm, managed the dairy, and fearlessly operated tractors, trucks, and combines. She found joy in her many hobbies and interests, such as being an active member of Kismet Global Methodist Church and Friends Church in Liberal. Ruth’s talents shone through in her role as a 4H leader, where she shared her skills and knowledge of sewing and cooking. Later in life, Ruth found love once again with Edward Madison Fawcett, they were united in marriage on November 25, 1983. He preceded her in death on August 7, 2017. Ruth will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to be touched by her presence.

She is survived by her daughters, Cindy Colmer and her husband, David of Rockport, Texas,

and Pamela Lara and her husband, Larry of Andover, Kansas,

son, C.J. Wettstein and his wife, Linda of Kismet, Kansas,

Sisters, Esther Spaulding of Amarillo, Texas,

Nina Bailey of Kansas City, Missouri, and

Mary Few of Scottsdale, Arizona,

Eight grandchildren,

Jennifer Cross, and her husband John,

Erika White and her husband, Bryan,

Monica Robertson, and her husband Josh,

Lyndell Lara and his wife McKenzi,

Mylissa Dugan, and her husband Chris,

Carl Wettstein and his wife, Jill, and

The twins, Carey, and Casey Wettstein, and

Sixteen great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her

Parents, Elijah Andrew and Opal Clara Pennington.Three brothers, andThree sisters.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, June 17, 2025, at the Kismet Global Methodist Church, 806 Main Street, Kismet Kansas. Reverend Steve Morgan will preside.

A burial will follow in Restlawn Cemetery.
