Lillian M. Skare

Lillian M. Skare, age 95, of Ulysses, Kansas died Monday, December 10, 2012 at The Legacy at Park View in Ulysses, Kansas. She was born June 15, 1917 in Walker, Minnesota, the daughter of Albert and Luella Warren.

Lillian grew up in Minnesota. She also lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado and Banning, California before moving to Ulysses, Kansas in 1977. Lillian married Harlan Sylvester Skare on August 12, 1935 in Walker, Minnesota. She worked in a tuberculosis sanitarium and nursing homes in the nursing field. After moving to Ulysses, she worked as a home care provider. Lillian was also a homemaker, enjoyed crocheting and sewed many of her children’s clothes.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Kuhn and husband JR of Ulysses, Kansas; sisters, Viola Blackburn of Walker, Minnesota, and Bertha Warren of St. Cloud, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Barbie Norton, Toni Maree Irvin, Steven Stever, Bobbi Higgs, and Vicki Lynn Skare; 13 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harlan in 1993; son, Harlan Richard Skare; daughter, Gladys Mae Lauer; brothers; Roy Warren, and James Warren; sister, Alice Bennett; and grandchildren, Thomas and Denise Ann Lauer.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Ulysses, Kansas with Reverend Bill Harrold officiating. There will be no calling hours. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to The Legacy at Park View in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
