Levi I. Classen, 87, died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kansas.
He was born to Peter L. and Katherine Isaac Classen on March 11, l932 in Meade County, Kansas.
He graduated from Meade Bible Academy in l950 and attended Grace Bible Institute in Omaha, Nebraska for one year.
He married Lorena Hamm on June 12, l954. She survives.
He worked for Earl Williamson Construction for many years and then formed Levi Classen Construction which he operated for 30 years. He was well known for his excellent craftsmanship in building cabinets and remodeling.
He was an active member of First Southern Baptist Church where he served in many different capacities including building and grounds, AWANA, and serving as a Deacon.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, sons Steve (Pat) Classen, Gary (Kris) Classen, grandchildren Zac (Jessica) Classen, Shandon (Valerie) Classen, Kaden Classen, Katie Classen; great-grandchildren Addie Classen and Josiah Classen.
Survivors also include sisters Agnes Shertz (Wayne), Dora Ehman (Paul), Alvera Thiessen (Wilmer), Evelyn Fischer (Ron) and brother Clarence Classen (Debbie).
He was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers, Henry, Ed, Pete, Jake, Harold and sisters Elizabeth Loewen and Linda Goossen.
Viewing will be 1:00 pm – 7:00 pm Monday November 4th with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm.
Funeral Service will be 10:00 am Tuesday November 5th at First Southern Baptist Church with Dr. Jack Jacob officiating. Burial will follow at the Liberal City Cemetery.
